Knee Replacement — Sarasota, FL — Meilus Precision Therapy
Knee Replacements, whether whole or partial can produce a variety of problems from loss of range of motion and or strength to pain around the joint either with activity or at rest. It is common to have one or more muscles associated with the knee shorten after surgery. For example, inability to get the last 10 to 15 degrees of knee extension can be caused by a shortened Popliteus, a small muscle behind the knee. Lengthening the Popliteus and hamstrings improves extension quickly. Knee flexion improves after lengthening the quads. Lateral knee pain can be reduced and function increased by releasing the Tensor Fasciae Latae, Glute Minimus and Iliotibial Band.
