The number one complaint I hear from people who have had hip replacements is they cannot lift their foot very high off the ground. On examination most also have limited hip extension. Lengthening their Psoas, Iliacus, Rectus Femoris and Sartorius muscles increases both their hip extension and hip flexion. Their hip flexor strength improves significantly and they are able to lift their leg to get in and out of a car, step up on a curb and walk with a normal gait.
